You may create your own form overlays for use with Check Factory.

1. Create a one page document in any Windows program such as MS Word.
2. Add a NEW printer to your windows system. When asked what type of driver to use select the HP LaserJet III . When asked what port to connect to, select FILE:
3. Print your one page document to the new HP III printer. When asked for a file name, use a base name of 8 characters or less and use the extension of .F00. F zero zero.

Example: MYFORM.F00

Installing a custom form overlay to an existing Form Control record in Check Factory v 2.xx for windows

1. Insert floppy containing custom form in A: drive.
2. Run Check Factory program.
3. From the Check Factory menu select: Forms, Form Control Master File
4. Select the form that you wish to modify.
5. Click on the Lookup Button next to the Form Overlay field.
6. Select the A: drive
7. Select your custom form overlay from the files list box.
8. Click on OK
9. When Check Factory asks you if this is a Custom Form; Answer Yes. The custom form will now be copied to the CFACTORY\CUSTOM directory.

This is for those who wish to ADD a NEW Check Factory Form Overlay to the Check Factory database of forms.

Run Check Factory.

Click on Forms, Form Control Master File.

Click on the ADD button to add a record.

Enter a new unique Form ID such as "PO2".

Fill out the Form Description.

Click on the Form Overlay File Name lookup button.

Select the new form overlay file from the floppy or hard disk. When asked if this is a custom form answer Yes.

Select the correct Orientation and Check Options.

Ignore the last two tabs.

Press Save and then Close.

New Form Control records will be created for the new form.

In your accounting software report writer report for the custom form, Add or change the Trigger Code: ||FORMID= .... field to reflect the new Form ID. Example:

||FORMID=PO2||.

A Note about fonts:

If your report designer has a font selection, you MUST use a printer resident font. We recommend LINEPRINTER since all HP compatible laser printers have this font. You only need to use the printer resident font for the Trigger Codes, the rest of your report can be in any font.

In order for the printer resident fonts to be available in your report writer, you may have to set the default laser printer in windows to your HP laser printer.
