Many Check Factory problems have been resolved in the latest LFEWIN2.EXE.
Please go to
File Downloads to download it.
I am running Check Factory on a Windows NT workstation. When I print
checks or forms, the data that fills out the form is slightly out of
alignment everywhere. Can I shift the variable data with respect to the form
overlay?
Yes! Check Factory form overlays are designed and tested for use on the
Windows 9x / HP IV printer combination. The print registration on other
combinations may be slightly different.
We have added a new Check Factory Print Menu item called "Set Application
Data Offset". This allows you to adjust where the variable data from your
accounting application prints relative to the form overlay. This adjustment
is linked to the specific workstation and destination printer.
Please download Check Factory v 2.44.6
for this new feature.
Check Factory GPF's on startup or Exit
Solution:
This is usually caused by multiple copies and versions of VBRUN300.DLL on
the local work station. Click on Start, Find, Files or Folders. Search for
VBRUN300.DLL on the C drive. If more than one VBRUN300.DLL is found note the
date of each file. Save the file with the most RECENT date to the
WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. Delete all other occurrences of this file.
I am upgrading from a DOS version of LFE or Check Factory. How do I get my
old data into the new Check Factory?
If you have not installed Check Factory v2.x yet:
Make a folder called CFACTORY below your accounting software folder on
the server.
Example: F:\MYACCTG\CFACTORY.
Copy the contents of your old LFE or LFEWIN folder to the CFACTORY
folder.
Now run the SETUP.EXE on your Check Factory install disks and follow
the prompts. When you run the new Check Factory for the first time all
of your old data will be converted.
If you have already installed Check Factory v2.x:
You must delete the contents of the CFACTORY folder then repeat the
steps above. Sorry!
From the Check Factory menu I have selected
PRINT, Print Blank Forms. When I print an AP or PR check the signature does
not print.
Check Factory NEVER prints a signature on a BLANK check. To see if the
signature image prints OK do a test print in the Checking Account Control
File, PRINT, Test Print Account menu item.
I have a signature defined for my check but it does not print when I print
a batch of checks in my accounting software.
A signature will not print in Check Factory if your
accounting software does not pass a dollar amount to Check Factory. The
dollar amount is usually passed through the use of specially modified
reports in your accounting software. Just because the dollar amount prints
on the face of the check does NOT mean that Check Factory is able to use it.
Immediately after printing checks and BEFORE you print
anything else in Check Factory, bring up the Check Factory menu and click on
Settings. Next double click on the background just to the left of the OK
button. A popup window will display. It should display information similar
to this: FORMID=APCHK, DBLINK=Your Database Name, CheckNo=12345,
CheckAmt=$12345.99 etc. If the popup says: "No Trigger Codes Found" or the
CheckAMT field is zero, missing, or is blank then something has not been set
up correctly. Please consult the "Software Setup Guide" that came with Check
Factory. It has specific instructions for installing the special modified
reports required for use with Check Factory. You may also wish to call the
person that set up Check Factory.
Another possibility is that you have a dollar limit defined
for this signature and this check exceeds the dollar limit. Check the dollar
limit in the Checking Account Control File. While in the Checking Account
Control File you will want to click on the PRINT menu at the top left of the
window and do a test print to see if the signature image is correctly placed
on the page.
"No Check Factory Compatible Printers Defined" message is
displayed.
Versions of Check Factory prior to v 2.44.4 used a filter to
filter out non HP laser printer drivers. With all of the new printers and
drivers on the market this has become more of a problem than a help. We have
removed the filter. All printers EXCEPT those named Check Factory will be
shown.
Warning:
Never select a printer connceted to C:\LFECF000 for the
Check Factory Destination printer.
Always select a HP PCL5 type laser printer as the
destination printer. Check Factory will only print correctly on a HP PCL5 or
above LASER printer. Check Factory does not work with dot matrix, ink jet,
bubble jet, or fax printer drivers.
How do I Add the Check Factory printer on the C:\LFECF000
port under Windows NT?
1> Click on the Start button, Settings, Printers, Add
Printer.
2> Add a HP Laserjet IV printer and temporarily connect it
to LPT1. Name it Check Factory.
3> Once the printer is added bring up the properties of the
printer, click on the Ports Tab, Click on Local Port, Click the New
Port button, type in C:\LFECF000 for the port name.
4> Make sure ONLY the C:\LFECF000 port is checked.
5> Save
