Problem:

When starting Check Factory for Windows v 2.xx you get the message.

“There are no Check Factory compatible printers available...”

New Solution:

Versions of Check Factory prior to v 2.44.4 used a filter to filter out non HP laser printer drivers. With all of the new printers and drivers on the market this has become more of a problem than a help. We have removed the filter. All printers EXCEPT those named Check Factory will be shown.

Warning:

Never select a printer connected to C:\LFECF000 for the Check Factory Destination printer.

Always select a HP PCL5 type laser printer as the destination printer. Check Factory will only print correctly on a HP PCL5 or above LASER printer. Check Factory does not work with dot matrix, ink jet, bubble jet, or fax printer drivers.

Old Solution for Check Factory prior to v 2.44.4 (Please download Check Factory v 2.44.4 or above)

Check Factory deals with two (2) Windows printers.

Printer 1:

The first printer is the Check Factory printer that is connected to “C:\LFECF000”. This is the printer that your accounting software must print to so that Check Factory can process the print job. This printer is simply connected to a file. YOU MUST NEVER ATTEMPT TO CAUSE THE CHECK FACTORY PROGRAM TO PRINT TO THIS PRINTER!

Printer 2:

The second printer is the Windows printer that is actually connected to the physical printer where you want the Check Factory program to print to. The Check Factory program only recognizes PCL printers such as HP III, IV, 5 series printers. It does not recognize postscript, inkjet or matrix printers, nor does it recognize HP 6, HP 4000 or above printers.

This is not a problem! If Check Factory does not regognize your printer, simply click on the START button, SETTINGS, PRINTERS. Click on ADD PRINTER. Choose an HP III or HP IV printer driver and connect it to either your local LPT port or the UNC network path to your printer. Check Factory will now see this printer and allow you to align it.

Remember, to use Check Factory, two printers are involved. The Check Factory printer connected to C:\LFECF000 is ONLY used by your accounting software. The Check Factory program must print to a printer that is actually connected to your physical printer.
