How to setup Check Factory on a PC running Windows Vista
We recommend avoiding the use of Vista due to the many problems with the
operating system. The preferred operating system is Windows XP.
The following information pertains to 32 bit versions of Vista. Check Factory v2
cannot run on 64bit versions of Vista.
32 bit Windows Vista
Windows Vista does not allow programs to perform file operations in the root
folder of the C drive therefore Check Factory print file spooling operations
must be moved to a folder off the C root.
1> Create a folder below your C: root named TMSPOOL
(C:\TMSPOOL) Give the user full access rights to
this folder.
2> Open the properties of the Check Factory printer.
Click the Ports Tab.
Click Add Port.
Select LOCAL PORT from the list.
Click NEW PORT.
When prompted for the port name enter:
C:\TMSPOOL\LFECF000 (LFECF zero zero zero)
Make sure the box is checked next to this port.
Close the printer properties.
3> Open Check Factory, click Settings, click the Source File
button. At the File Name: field in the dialog box please type in:
If you are using Quick Books or BusinessWorks:
C:\TMSPOOL\LFECF000.SPL
(LFECF zero zero zero)
All others please type in:
C:\TMSPOOL\LFECF000
(LFECF zero zero zero)
Click OK and then OK again to close the Settings window.
4> Close and then restart Check Factory.
The Check Factory printer will now create spool files in the
C:\TMSPOOL folder and Check Factory
will look for those files in that folder.
